The decision to end your romantic relationships has been made. If you are married or living as common-law, there are decisions over what happens next that you both need to resolve. These difficult conversations can lead to increased tension, positional arguments, and defend actions fracturing your ability to communicate.
In Mediation Christine will facilitate your conversations, identifying areas of shared interests and use tools to prompt problems-solving for mutual benefit. Together you will navigate how to move apart and author an agreement that best reflects the unique needs of your family.
Separation & Divorce Mediation produces an agreement referred to as a Memorandum of Understanding.
The document will broadly outline the following terms (as relevant):
- A Parenting Plan
- Decision-Making Responsibility for the child
- A Parenting Time schedule
- Financial Support
- Child Support
- Spousal Support
- Division of Assets
- Equalization Payment
- Financial Statement (Property and Support Claims form)
The agreement is than circulated to parties’ lawyers and formulated into a Separation Agreement for final acceptance and submission to the court for a Divorce Order.
These decisions will move at the pace of both parties’ readiness and can often be achieved in approximately 15 hours, notwithstanding estate complexity, third party consultations and unforeseeable delays.
